Our world has given me increasing moments that just make me want to run around in circles with my hands in the air screaming the words Future in an attempt to convey holy shit, this is sci fi land we're living in right now.
Tablets. Hallo there childhood dreams of Star Trek: Next Generation.
Tesla Cars.
Netflix because seriously.
E-book readers, again, predicted in Star Trek.
Computer monitors I could theoretically hang on the wall like a picture, and set to cycle through artistic photographs.
HOLY SHIT SMARTPHONES. That was too effing FANCY for Star Trek!
WE HAVE FUNCTIONING, IF HIGHLY EXPENSIVE, VR.
We have youtube videos of people playing in VR.
CARS THAT WILL SOON DRIVE THEMSELVES.
3D PRINTERS MAKING PROSTETICS.
A PROSTETIC LIMB THAT IS HOOKED UP TO THIS GUYS BRAIN, OH MY GOD.
3D PRINTERS BEING DEVELOPED TO MAKE FOOOOOOD.
I can pull out my smartphone, a computer sized to fit in my pocket, and access the internet, using the website of a restaurant to lay out every detail of the order I want without talking to a single person.
And I just put a small pod into a machine, pressed a button, and got a single cup of delicious coffee.
How are we not geeking out more over these?
We are living in a world that, when I was a child, could only exist in speculative fiction. FUTUUUURE! FUTURE!!!!!!
