Watching the movie Pulse for the first time in years.
The computer tech is dated. As usual with any sort of thrillers based on tech, it's an unintentional period piece.
That said... I really shouldn't be watching this alone in the house, ON MY COMPUTER. The japanese version is a much slower burn than the american remake, but that just makes the scares hit harder when they come. Plus the theme of loneliness, and people dying, falling victim to this event when they feel too lonely... why am I watching this alone again?
I do think there's a whole host of themes in how one of the main sets is a rooftop garden full of plants in pots. Nature vs Technology, Man's growing estrangement from the natural world, that sort of thing. So many of the scenes there are the female leads worrying about this person or that not showing up, including the opening scene for the movie.
One more thing I find interesting: it's a non-western view on the concept of 'when hell is full, the dead will walk the earth', leading to an extinction level event. How often do we see that where it's not zombies?
And yes, this is me screaming into the void, but that's allowed. Sorry for my rambling spamming up your feeds!
